Island Cruises Ships
There are two cruise ships that make up the Island Cruises fleet, Island Star and Island Escape. Both have a style of cruising that is relaxed, friendly and informal.
Island Star was originally constructed for Celebrity Cruises and operated under the name of Celebrity Horizon. She transferred to Island Cruises in September 2005 and underwent re-fits at the end of 2005 and into 2006. Island Star primarily cruises the Mediterranean in the summer months from her base in Palma de Mallorca and the Caribbean in the winter season.
Island Star passengers are spoilt for room. She has double-height passenger areas, broad decks and spacious cabins. There are various types of cabins to suit everyone, each decked out with high quality equipment and contemporary fixtures and fittings. There are five restaurants on board including the wonderful Island Restaurant, and seven clubs, lounges or bars.

Island Escape at the time of her construction in 1982 was the largest cruiseferry in the world and was known as Scandinavia. Her name changed to Stardancer in 1985 and she operated under this name for Sundance Cruises and Admiral Cruises until 1990 when she was sold to Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and renamed Viking Serenade. In 1991 she underwent alterations to transform her into a more conventional looking cruise ship. She was named Island Escape in 2002 when Royal Caribbean transferred her to its subsidiary, Island Cruises. Island Escape sails the Mediterranean during the summer after which she crosses the Atlantic Ocean to Brazil where she spends winter season cruising South America from her base at Santos, São Paulo.
Island Escape passengers can expect a friendly and relaxed onboard atmosphere. There are no set times for dinner and no dress code. There are three restaurants including the Beachcomber which is a 24 hour buffet style restaurant, and nine clubs, lounges or bars to choose from.
